STUDENT LOANS/BURSARY INFORMATION
1.
Canadian Student Loans
- Manual
application forms available in Room 103, Finance & Administration.
Online applications and information on BCSAP website: www.bcsap.bc.ca.
Allow 6 weeks processing.
- Funding
available to both full-time (60 – 100% full course load) and
part-time (20 – 59% full course load) students. Students with
permanent disabilities may enroll in 20 – 40% of a full course
load and still be considered full-time equivalency.
- Applications
online and information on BCSAP website: www.bcsap.bc.ca.

- Students
may apply for loans at such time as they perceive they will have
financial need. The deadline for submitting an application
and all required appendices is six weeks before your study end date.
2. U.S. Student Loans
- Free

3. VST Financial Aid
- Application
forms available in Room 264, Finance & Administration.
- Application
deadlines are:
- Fall:
August 15
- Winter:
December 15
- Summer:
April 15
- A fully
completed application form requesting student aid and an interview
with the designated Financial Aid Officer must be completed each
term. Updating interviews are required to advise of changes to the
student’s financial situation.

4.
Knights Templar Educational Foundation
- The Knights
Templar Educational Foundation, the first program of its kind, was
organized in 1922. Since then, more than $32 million dollars has
been loaned to students to complete their last two years of college.
This financial assistance is given without regard to race, colour,
creed, age or Masonic affiliation.
- In recent
years, some Grand Commanderies have also been offering Scholarship
Grants to students who are members of Masonic-related Youth Groups.
5. Eastern Star
- Training
awards for religious leadership. Eligibility will be determined entirely
by the ESTARL committee in each Grand Jurisdiction and each Chapter
Under the Jurisdiction of the General Grand Chapter. Recipients for
Awards may be chosen as each Jurisdiction’s rules apply.
- All applications
must be accompanied by:
- Letter
of reference from the Minister of the church the applicant
attends;
- Letter
of reference from the head of the department in which the applicant
is majoring, or the Principal of the High School from which
the applicant is graduating, or if changing careers, from latest
employer.
- Letter
of reference from a personal friend – not a relative.
- A
short personal resume of applicants’ interests, activities,
Educational and Occupational goals.
- A
current picture of applicant or applicant and family may be
included.
- Renewal
forms for previous Awardees must be accompanied by:
- Academic
record from school if available
- Letter
of reference from the head of the department in which the applicant
is majoring
- A
short personal resume of applicants’ interests, activities,
Educational and Occupational goals.
- Deadline: Applications
are to be in the hands of the sponsoring Chapter by February 28th.

St. Stephen’s Broadway Foundation Inc.
- Applicants
must be members of The United Church of Canada. We regret the need
to limit Bursaries to students from Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario
and Saskatchewan.
- Applicants
must be in, or accepted for entry to, a full time recognized program
of study within the United Church of Canada.
- Applicants
must complete the Bursary application form in its entirety. Failure
to do so will disqualify the application.
- First
time applicants must include a letter from their program of study
confirming enrolment and a letter from their congregation confirming
membership in and support of the applicant by that congregation.
- An application
form for a grant or bursary is available from the Secretary Treasurer,

- Deadline: The
bursary application deadline is May 15th. Applicants will be notified
by July 30th. Bursaries will be mailed in September.
7.
Royal Canadian Legion
- The Command
level bursary program has been cancelled effective 2004. Branches
and Auxiliaries will continue to provide within their own communities.
Students should check with the local Legion Branch in their community.
Individual Branches will determine the eligibility requirements for
their bursaries.

Karen Stinson Bursary Trust Fund
- Established
to celebrate the life of former parish worker Karen Stinson, who
was stricken with an aneurysm and died on August 13, 1990 at the
age of 32 years.
- Although
the Board will make necessary judgments in all cases, the following
criteria will apply to awards:
- Applicants
must be enrolled in full-time or part-time post-secondary studies.
- Awards
will be based upon the following equal criteria: Academic achievement;
Christian activities; participation in community; preparation for
a career in the field of social services, education, ordained ministry,
or related church vocation; financial need.
- The amount
of the award may range from $400 - $600, based upon funds available
from the interest on the endowment, which will continue to grow as
contributions increase. The award will be made on an annual basis,
and recipients are eligible to re-apply in subsequent years.

The Ivor Norris Bursary - DPOCS (SEC-ARMY)
- The Ordinariate
of the Canadian Forces has sponsored the Ivor Norris Bursary for
over twenty-five years. This bursary is awarded to theological students
who have had, or have some connection with the Canadian Forces. With
the reorganization of Church house the total administration of this
bursary program comes under the purview of the Ordinariate itself.
- Awarded
to applicants (annually) who have a personal connection to the Canadian
Forces through personal military service (past or present), being
married to or the child of someone with past or current service.
Must be sponsored by a Bishop for ordination within the Anglican
Church of Canada and enrolled in full time theological studies.

Unitarian Universalist Association
- An anti-racist,
anti-oppressive and multicultural religious faith.
- Limited
scholarship funding available for students of colour in their first
year who are planning to seek ministerial fellowship with the UUA.

Martin Moser Society for Theological Studies
- The applicant must be a lay man or woman of any Christian denomination who is enrolled in an
ATS accredited theological school in Canada;
- is pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in theology or theological studies in preparation for
non-ordained ministries in the Canadian Church
