In Memoriam: Jean MacDonald

VST mourns the loss of one of our Friends of VST, and long time supporter, Jean MacDonald. Jean passed away on July 4th, 2012. Her obituary from the Vancouver Sun / Province appeared as below:

MACDONALD, M. Jean
April 1917 – July 4, 2012
95 years ago Jean hailed from Bredenbury, Saskatchewan. Her 5 siblings were:- Flora, Muriel, Allister (Jean’s twin), Sheila and Keith. For 30 years Jean was a missionary to Japan for the United Church of Canada. Always full of life and adventure Jean experienced a mild stroke at age 90. Following her own motto: “to live above life’s challenges” Jean continued to travel (even to Europe and to visit family and friends). May all who cared for Jean (not limited to recent friends at the Stroke Recovery Club, VGH, Purdy and Knox) take comfort in her abiding gratitude. In lieu of flowers, a gift to Knox United Church or to the Vancouver School of Theology, 6000 lona Drive, Vancouver, would be in keeping with Jean’s wishes. Condolences may be sent to mjmacdonald.condolences@gmail.com A Memorial Service will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 21st at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava, Vancouver.
