Vision

  • In the Spirit, we are called to be faithful and discerning disciples of Jesus Christ, witnessing to the living God, and, together with both First Nations communities and other faith traditions, to engage issues of truth, justice and spiritual growth.

Mission
Vancouver School of Theology is an institution of theological education, inspiring its community to work through:

  • The Centre for Christian Leadership to develop a learned ministry in the service of Jesus Christ, and religiously educated leaders for service in the world
  • The Indigenous Study Centre to partner with First Nations and the global aboriginal community in Christian ministry, spiritual growth and social justice initiatives, and
  • The Iona Pacific Centre to further interfaith understanding and joint initiatives enhancing the quality of life for all.

Values
As a community of faith, we value:

Goals

  1. Learning: Provide a stimulating theological learning environment with exceptional opportunities for the formation of the whole people of God.
  2. Scholarship: Inspire and maintain excellence in scholarship in the disciplines of theological studies.
  3. People: Sustain an outstanding community of students, faculty and staff who reflect the diversity of Canada.
  4. Spiritual Life: Continue to open ourselves to the presence of the Spirit in all aspects of the life of the School.
  5. Partnerships: Strengthen the School’s relationships with its supporting denominations, Aboriginal
    peoples, churches, educational institutions, and other religious traditions with specific attention to the Pacific Rim.
  6. Institutional Sustainability: Practice and teach responsible stewardship in caring for creation, and managing the School, its facilities and finances.
