Foundational Courses

At the core of all VST basic degree/diploma programmes is a standard complement of core courses; all programmes are built on this core and upon completion of the Foundational Courses, other courses can be added to frame specific degrees. The Foundational courses allow a process of discernment, permitting students to survey all available facets of theological education and to test their aptitude for their chosen ministry, whether in ordained ministry, as lay leaders or to incorporate their faith and spirituality in other professions.

Length of Programme
After having completed all Foundational Courses, a student will have completed 21 credit hours. Students are then eligible to enter more advanced required and elective courses specific to their desired degree.

Admissions
Most students are expected to have a Bachelor's degree, and competence in English, demonstrated if needed by writing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination and scoring 580 or better. Some students may be permitted to enter with a combination of education and experience. See the Admissions page for more information.
